Riviera Maya Theme Parks, Cenotes, Museums

If you plan to visit any of the Riviera Maya Theme Parks, be sure to make use of the special discount that is available to all our guests with one of the tour companies.  There are various price packages at each theme park and also some joint tickets available – as well as trips including transport.

Xcaret The most famous of all the Riviera Maya theme parks, styled as an ecological park.  It is a full day and there is a highly rated evening show bringing to life Mexican culture.  Xcaret is located just a few miles south of Playacar – maybe a 10 minute drive from either villa – south on the highway towards Tulum.

Xplor An adventure based theme park located very close to Xcaret and just a 10 minute drive from either villa, south on the highway

Xel Ha An aquatic theme park with great snorkelling in fresh water.  Located south of Akumal, about 30 minutes drive south from Playa.

Xoximilco Take an excursion on a colourful barge and experience Mexican culture, customs and traditions through music, dance, games and food.  The park is inspired by the area of similar name in Mexico City

Xenses  A new and unique park

Rio Secreto Experience a spectacular underground river with thousands of stalactites and stalacmites

Some Cenotes near Playa:

There are numerous cenotes along the Riviera Maya where you can swim in the fresh water, or relax in the lush tropical surroundings.  Each cenote is slightly different; they usually charge a small entrance fee and here are some that you will enjoy:

Cenote Eden, Cenote Azul and Cenote Cristallano – all three are located close to each other, about 4 minutes drive south of Puerto Aventuras (about 20 minutes south of Playa).

Cenote el Jardin south of Puerto Aventuras, on the right hand side near the Barceló hotel.

Gran Cenote Just past Tulum (turn right at the traffic lights just before the town and it is on the right, about one mile).  One of the larger cenotes, popular for diving and snorkelling

Cenote Dos Ojos a spectacular flooded cave system where it is possible to dive.  Located about 10 miles north of Tulum

With all the beaches, mayan sites, cenotes, colonial towns and other attractions to visit in a short vacation, there may be little time for a museum visit.  Maybe for a rainy day, there is an excellent museum right in the hotel zone of Cancun – Museo Maya de Cancun.
